Your Itinerary

Day 1 – Canberra to Yarrangobilly

Early morning pick-up from your Canberra accommodation. Cruise through the Monaro plains and into the high country, to your first stop at the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre in Cooma. Here we will experience the educational and innovative ‘virtual fly over’ in the immersive theatre, with time for you to explore the exhibits and shop, and enjoy lunch in the Centre’s cafe. After lunch we head out along the Snowy Mountains Highway to Adaminaby for our private guided visit of the Snowy Scheme Museum. We then continue into the national park to Yarrangobilly Caves in time for your private guided cave tour. Local wine and nibbles, and your homemade dinner is provided at your accommodation in Caves House.

Day 2 – Yarrangobilly to Tumbarumba

This morning we visit Talbingo and view the largest power station in The Scheme – Tumut 3, as well as the spectacular Talbingo Reservoir which will be part of Snowy 2.0. We then stop for morning tea in Tumut and a visit to the Tumut Broom Factory and the art gallery at the National Parks Visitors Centre. Enjoy a lunch of local produce in Tumbarumba, before a visit to the Glenroy Heritage Reserve and Pioneer Women’s Hut. Dinner is at the highly acclaimed Elms Restaurant in Tumbarumba.

Day 3 – Tumbarumba to Jindabyne

Breakfast this morning is at the beautiful Braymont Gardens just south of Tumbarumba, home to one of only a handful of tree churches in the world. We then continue through the national park via Geehi along the magnificent Alpine Way and enjoy a picnic lunch with the kangaroos at Geehi Hut. Enjoy some free time in Jindabyne and take a stroll along the lake foreshore, before settling in to your lakefront accommodation. Dinner is at The Jindy Inn.

Day 4 – Jindabyne, Thredbo and Charlotte Pass

This morning we head back into the national park to visit Thredbo Village and take a scenic chairlift ride to Australia’s highest cafe! After a scrumptious European style lunch at a schnapps and gin distillery, you have the choice of some more free time in town, or a visit to beautiful Charlotte Pass, with views to Mt Kosciuszko (weather permitting). Dinner is at The Jindy Inn.

Day 5 – Jindabyne to Canberra

Experience a private guided tour of historic Dalgety (the town that nearly became the nation’s capital!) and look for platypus in the Snowy River before a delicious lunch at the Lott Cafe. After lunch we stop at a surprise local attraction (or two!), before we head back to Canberra for afternoon drop-offs at your accommodation.

Accommodation

All of our carefully selected accommodation is 3 ½ to 4 ½ star, double or twin share, with private ensuite bathroom. A single supplement of $340 is available if you would prefer a private room. Most of our accommodation on tour has flat, level access, and walk-in showers. Some rooms at Yarrangobilly and in Jindabyne have stair access. Please advise if you require the rooms with level access.
